God's Plan for Your Life
John 15:4,5 ... Abide
in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide
in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without
Me ye can do nothing.
The main purpose for your life is to stay in Christ and walk well pleasing before
the Lord. Without Him you cannot accomplish anything for His Kingdom. Abiding in Him is the target, if one desires to produce
fruit. Many Christians struggle with the thought of what they "should" be doing for the Lord, or what their calling may be.
Be
not anxious or worried if you still have to learn what God's special calling is for your life. Someone's calling may not be
noticable to others. It may not mean going to the Third World nations, or setting up an orphanage. It may be just something
closer to home, such as training your children in the ways of the Lord, or visiting a senior in the Nursing Home. All calls
are equally important. Whatever it may be, rest in the Lord and He will surely let you know which way to turn.
God's
plan for your life is not as complicated as you may think. His will for His children is mainly to walk in obedience unto His
Word, grow in grace, in knowledge of the Scripture and live upright before His face. In short, grow into maturity and in righteousness
through Christ Jesus. Therefore, put the Word first in your life.
It is a hard road if one desires to abide in Jesus
and leave the world behind ... truly leaving it behind. But Jesus says, My burden is light and My
yoke is easy. This will only be true if we truly keep our will surrendered unto Him, otherwise it is an endless battle
between the flesh and the spirit. Nothing will be accomplished this way.
To please God and to succeed, one is required
to meditate upon the Scripture, apply it and practise God's Word. Become saturated with His Word, so you may know His will
for your life.
Joshua 1:8 ... This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou
shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Since Jesus has fulfilled the Law,
we are abiders through the love of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. He gave us a new command to love God with all of our
heart and to love one another as we love ourselves. Paul writes to the Galatians that all of the Law is fulfilled in one word,
even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Therefore, where the Scripture speaks about the Law, we, as New Testament
believers would read "The Word of God" - particularly the New Testament - shall not depart out of thy mouth.
John
1:17 ... For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Communicate
with the Father, through prayer and meditation in His Word. Let Him know your needs and your desires. Leave all your fears
and anxieties with Him and walk quietly in His footsteps.
Proverbs 3:5-6 ... Trust
in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He SHALL direct
your paths.
Proverbs 4:4 ... Let your heart hold fast
my words; keep my commandments and live.
If we'll just learn to obey His voice, the Lord will be much more
pleased with our lives, than when we do our own thing and take on a Sunday school class, for example. Many activities done
by Christians may only satisfy their own longing and the expectations of others. Some people tire themselves out by activities
which the Lord never asked them to do. One needs to be certain of the leading of the Holy Spirit, or their works will be futile.
Talking
about God's Word and rejoicing in it is very worthwhile. But doing what the Scripture says is the most important issue, which
God requires from His children. Jesus says: "They that do the will of My Father, are My mother, brothers and sisters."
James
1:22 ... But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
In
order to become beneficial to the Kingdom of God we need to be working on ourselves first. Rather, allow the Lord to prepare
our hearts and lives to become His servants. This takes time, just as learning a profession. You have to understand that you
cannot be an effective worker with God if you're struggling between the spirit and the flesh. The Father desires that His
children walk in the Spirit and are a reflection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
His Word tells us, we are created for His
pleasure. This is what we have to aim for in the first place. When you abide in His Word and have communication with Him through
prayer and praise, He will certainly lead you to the place where you will be most beneficial to others. You do not need to
search for your calling, because it will become very obvious as you continue your walk with Him. Just incline your ear and
pay attention.
Proverbs 4:20-22 ... My son, attend to My words; incline thine ear unto My sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and
health to all their flesh.
Some believers think that they have to do SOMETHING, such as evangelizing; going
to the mission field; preaching on the corner of the street. etc. etc. If the Lord does not specifically lead you into the
above mentioned activities, then be just quiet before Him. In the mean time do what your hand finds to do; do good to
them that hate you; take care of the widows and orphans. Also, we need to be His witness in whatever we do or say. Nevertheless,
do not allow yourself to be pushed on a guilt trip by others, that you should be doing this or that.
Paul says, we
are not all teachers, prophets or evangelists. Some of us are called to praise God more than others would ever do. Others
are called to be intercessory prayer warriors or teachers. Still others play the keyboard during church worship service, etc.
etc.
It is the Lord who directs, through the Holy Spirit. Your life's future in God should NOT be influenced by your
emotions, your own ideas, or someone else's thoughts. His Spirit may stir your emotions, but your emotions should not guide
your spirit.
Jeremiah 10: 23 ... the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh
to direct his steps.
Isaiah:55:8 ... For My thoughts are
not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD.
God will come through with His plan in
your life. You do your part by staying focused on Him and willing to obey His voice. He will prepare you and make you capable
through the Holy Spirit, to fulfill His calling. The Almighty has started a work in you and He will finish it also.
BLESSINGS TO YOU AS YOU SEEK HIS WILL.
