The Two Sticks
How like this prophecy is to the Valley of Dry Bones prophecy.  Both of these can be found in Ezekiel, chapter 37. I've already dealt with the first prophecy in the chapter, now I will deal with the second. Like the Valley of Dry Bones prophecy, this also talks about bringing God's people to unity, but it goes further than that.  It is clear on reminding us that there will be those of the House of Israel who are also to be unified with us. Many will think this heresy, which is unfortunate. For those who think such do not know the Word of God and are not KNOWN BY the Word of God. The apostle Paul reminds us that these, (the Jews) are still God's chosen people. He warns us not to be haughty in our salvation, "For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?" (Romans 1:24) But let me get back to the two sticks.   Ezekiel is told to take two sticks. On one stick he is commanded, Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions." (Ezekiel 37:16) Some would say that this, like the previous prophecy, pertains only to the House of Israel.  Not so! The prophecy to Israel was only the foreshadow of a greater prophecy to a greater Israel, that is ALL of God's House, not just that of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Question is, can I prove this? If I can't I'm a heretic and a liar. Wherefore remember, that ye in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man." (Ephesians 2:11-15) We see here that God has taken US, those who were enemies of God, and Gentiles who knew not the Law of God, and through the Blood of Jesus, not merely brought us near or even into salvation, but joined us WITH those who by nature are heirs to the promises of God, making in Jesus, ONE NEW MAN. That, my brothers and sisters, is the unity that God is looking for. In Ezekiel we see the "children of Israel" united with the "house of Israel". In these last days we SHALL see the uniting of the "children of God" with those of the "house of God." We shall see the union of those God has called out from the house of Israel to be His Chosen, united with those God has called out from the nations of the Gentiles. In that union God has created one new man, even the Body of Christ. Be careful therefore that you do not take lightly the salvation in which you have partaken, lest you lose the privileges of those counted as His children.
