clock1.gifThe Next 60 Seconds!

The next 60 seconds. We usually don’t think much about them. It’s just a short period of time. Just a minute in length. Then, driving on an icy road, your car begins to skid. What you do in the next 60 seconds can mean life or death, accident or safety. Whatever you’re doing right now the next 60 seconds will always be the most important time in your life, for it will impact the rest of your life one way or another.

Our lives are filled with choices, choices that are made in less than 60 seconds. These choices are what make the next 60 seconds so precious, so valuable, so important to you.

One of these choices is the choice of whether to accept the grace and mercy of God, the forgiveness of sin, through the death of Jesus Christ, or whether to reject it. Oh you may have another 60 seconds to make the choice, maybe another after that. Do you really know for sure that to be the case? Can you, without qualification, guarantee that you will be alive past these next 60 seconds? You see the importance?

In the next 60 seconds you can choose to follow Jesus, to allow Him into your heart, to be your Lord, your Savior, your King, or you can put it off. You can live life the way you want…until there is no more life to live. Then whether or not you chose those 60 seconds to receive this precious gift from God will have eternal consequences. For we shall only die in the flesh, our spirit shall live forever. The “second death” which God speaks of in the Book of Revelation, deals with those who have run out of time to make the decision to accept His mercy and are forever separated from Him. That is the true meaning of death. To live without God is death. To die with God, even that is life.

So, what are you going to do with these next 60 seconds? Remember, your choice in this matter may have eternal consequences. The clock is ticking. Time is running out. There are, after all, only 60 seconds and then, who knows?
